Breathe

This term the theme is Breath. Developing breath awareness. As children we breath easily and naturally, as adults sometimes our breath becomes restricted by the clothes we wear, by the lives we lead, by the stress we feel.

You may find the following mindfulness activity helpful. Find yourself a quiet comfortable seat and repeat the following for a few minutes.

Breathing in, silently say to yourself
Breathing in I calm my body
Breathing out, silently say to yourself
Breathing out I smile

The full saying below, is from Thich Nhat Hanh, a Buddist Monk who was known as the father of mindfulness.

Breathing in I calm my body and mind
Beathing out in I smile
Dwelling in the present moment, I know
This is the only moment

We may learn some yogic breathing, in the next weeks but the most important lesson is to feel your own breath to allow it to weave its magic, to relax, to uplift, to energise.
